1.Demänovská Cave of Friedom

The cave lies in Demänovská valley, south of Liptovský Mikuláš. It is part of the national natural monument Demänovské jaskyne, the longest cave system in Slovakia. and it is distinguished by the magnificent colours of the stalactites and stalagmites and the uniqueness of their shapes. White, yellow, orange, black and their various shades mingle in the rocky waterfalls. Veľký dóm (The Great Dome) is the largest accessible underground space in Slovakia. 2. Demänovská Ice Cave

Demanovska Ice Cave is situated in Demanovska Valley not far from Demänovská jaskyňa Slobody. The ice in the interior is in the lower parts of the cave, especially in the Kmeťov dome. The bones of a cave bear were discovered in the cave and in the past were thought to be the bones of a dragon, earning the cave the name of Dragon Cave. Closed from 1.10. - 14.5

3. Važecká Cave

Vazecka Cave is located on the road from Liptovský Mikuláš to Poprad, in Važecký kras on the edge of the village Važec. It is not big in size but it is rich in stalactite and stalagmite adornment, in delicate shapes and colors, including thin quills, on delightful sinter lakes and miniature dams. A significant part of the cave is filled with the sediments deposited by the former waters of the Bielý Váh river. The bones of a cave bear were discovered in the cave. Closed from 1.12. - 31.1

4. Bystrianska Cave

Bystrianska Cave is situated at the southern edge of the village of Bystrá, not far from the Tále recreation centre in the Low Tatras. The most beautiful parts of the cave are Klenotnica (the jewel box), Peklo (hell), Katakomby (the catacombs) and Zrútený dóm (the collapsed dome).. The cave offers barrier-free access and is used for speleotherapy - therapeutic sessions in the cave with active breathing exercises.

5. Cave of the Dead Bats

The entrance to the Cave of the Dead Bats is situated in the central part of the Low Tatras ridge at an elevation of 1750m. It is a multi-level, extensively branched network of river hallways and main corridors, joined together by vertical sections such as abysses and chimneys. Compared with other caves, there has been little human and technical interference here. Undoubtedly the most remarkable occurrence was the discovery of a great number of bat bones, which are up to 6,000 years old. Each year, there are new additions of dead specimens, from various European countries, that did not survive hibernation, which is how the cave got its name. Low temperatures, with a maximum of 3.6oC, and strong air currents, which in some areas reach up to 7 meters/second, make this a very cold and turbulent cave.

6. Harmanecká Cave

Harmanecká Cave lies northwest of Banská Bystrica on the boundary of Veľka Fatra and Kremnické vrchy, near the town of Harmanec. Thanks to its characteristic snowy coloration, it acquired the name White Cave. The largest accessible section is called Dom pagod (House of Pagodas), which is characterised by its massive pagoda-like formations. The symbol of the cave is the bright white rock vase, which is purported to fulfil the wish of anyone who can manage to toss in a coin.

7. Belianska Cave

Belianska Cave is situated in the eastern part of the Belianske Tatras, on the northern slope of Kobylie peak, and offers visitors innumerable underground works - large halls and domes, pagodas and lakes and sinter lakes. Concerts of recorded music take place each August in an area with good accoustics called the 'Music Hall'. Eight species of bat live in the cave. The cave is also used for speleotreatment

8. Dobšinská Ice Cave

Dobšinská Ice Cave is situated in Slovenský raj near the town Dobšina. It is the largest ice cave in Slovakia and the first cave in Europe to have electric lighting (since 1887). The extraordinary sight awaiting you in this cavern is a magnificent conglomeration of ice forming a huge mass underneath arches of rock. During the period before the start of summer, there is about a centimeter depth of snowy frost here. The abundant icy filling of the cave occurs in the form of an ice-covered floor, frozen waterfalls, ice stalagmites and pillars. Closed from 1.10. - 14.5.

9. Gambasecká Cave

Gombasecká Cave lies in the Slovenský kras near the town of Gombasek in the Rožňava district. It is distinguished by the curious decoration of glass straw stalagmites and stalactites. Because of its delicate decoration, it has earned the name 'fairy tale'. Mramorová sieň (marble hall) will amaze you with its vastness and variety of stalagmites and stalactites, including cone-shaped stalagmites reminiscent of tropical anthills.

10. Cave Domica

Cave Domica Lies in Rožňava district near border with Hungary. . The uniqueness of this cave is the abundant presence of bats (about 1500 of 16 different species). There is a huge underground hall called Majkov Dome, with cascading waterfalls. It's also known as the Roman Spa. An interesting attraction is a boat ride on the river Styx.

11. Ochtinská Aragonite Cave

Ochtinská Aragonite Cave is a unique, natural display of underground karst in Slovenské Rudohorie. Its distinctiveness lies in the mineral aragonite, a form of white to brown calcium carbonate, which makes up the interior of the cave. The cave is embellished by a variety of tufts, branches and shrub-like formations of milky-white aragonite. Sieň Mliečnej dráhy (Milky Way Hall) is considered to be the most beautiful place in the cave and is filled with numerous white aragonite clusters, shining in the light of the lamps like the stars in the Milky Way.

12. Cave Driny

Cave Driny is the only accessible cave in the Small Carpathians, and is part of the Smolenice karst. The cave has the typical stalagmites and stalactites in various sizes and colours; the longest is a 2.2m stalagmite. The cave is adorned with snow-white sinter lakes, which are covered on the bottom by little sinter balls, so-called cave pearls. The symbol of the cave is a stalactite formation reminiscent of elephants' ears.
